COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, COMMON GROUND CAN HELP DELAVAN
DELAVAN – Clean up is well under way, but the 50-plus families hit by an EF-2 tornado last week will probably find it takes more than a few days to recovery.
Their immediate needs for food and shelter are being met by emergency responders. But their needs for items such as insurance deductibles, rental assistance and mental health counseling may not surface for weeks or months.
Community Foundation of Central Illinois and Common Ground of Central Illinois are accepting donations to assist those impacted by the storm.
The Community Foundation of Central Illinois has opened a fund and is accepting donations to assist those impacted by the storm. The Community Foundation is a partner with Tri-County Long-Term Recovery, which has distributed more than $1.3 millions to 1,000-plus families affected by the November 2013 tornadoes. LTR and the Community Foundation will use their experience to make things easier for Delavan residents to fill the needs that remain.
If you want to help in the effort, please designate your gift for Central Illinois Disaster Recovery Fund. Credit card donations can be made online through the CFCI website at communityfoundationci.org. Checks can be mailed to the CFCI office at 331 Fulton, Suite 310, Peoria, IL 61602. For more information, call the CFCI office at 309-674-8730.
Tax-deductible contributions clearly marked for tornado relief can be sent to Common Ground of Central Illinois at P.O. Box 78, Delavan, IL 61734. The organization also has a thrift store in Delavan for goods such as clothing and furniture. Please call the store manager Julie Crutcher at 309-830-8256 to see what items are needed.
